| A paralog of the human cell cycle checkpoint gene HUS 1 has been identified and designated HUS1B . ^^^ HUS1B is expressed variably in many human tissues , and the tissue specific levels observed parallel those for HUS 1 . ^^^ However , HUS1B directly interacts with RAD 1 , but not RAD 9 or HUS 1 , whereas HUS 1 can bind RAD 1 , RAD 9 , and another molecule of HUS 1 , suggesting that HUS1B can not simply substitute for HUS 1 in the complex . ^^^ HUS1B is less conserved evolutionarily than HUS 1 . ^^^ Furthermore , overexpression of HUS1B but not HUS 1 in human cells induces clonogenic cell death . ^^^ |
