| Role of HSP 90 , CDC 37 , and CRM 1 as modulators of P 16 ( INK4A ) activity in rat liver carcinogenesis and human liver cancer . ^^^ Upregulation of p 16 ( INK4A ) , Hsp 90 , and Cdc 37 genes ; an increase in Cdc 37 Cdk4 complexes ; and a decrease in p 16 ( INK4A ) Cdk 4 complexes occurred in preneoplastic liver , nodules , and hepatocellular carcinoma of F 344 rats . ^^^ Marked upregulation of P 16 ( INK4A ) was associated with moderate overexpression of HSP 90 , CDC 37 , E2F4 , and CRM 1 in human hepatocellular carcinomas with a better prognosis . ^^^ In contrast , strong induction of HSP 90 , CDC 37 , and E2F4 was paralleled by P 16 ( INK4A ) downregulation and high levels of HSP 90 CDK4 and CDC 37 CDK4 complexes in hepatocellular carcinomas with poorer prognosis . ^^^ |

| The interaction between MDM 2 and hsp 90 is disrupted by the 2A10 antibody , which recognizes a site on MDM 2 important for binding to alternative reading frame ( ARF ) . ^^^ Expression of mutant p 53 prevents MDM 2 from binding ARF and accumulating in the nucleolus in an hsp 90 dependent fashion . ^^^ These results suggest that hsp 90 recruited by mutant p 53 conceals the ARF binding site on MDM 2 and inhibits its ubiquitin protein isopeptide ligase function , resulting in the stabilization of both mutant p 53 and MDM2 . . ^^^ |

| We evaluated the expression of HSP 40 , HSP 60 , HSP 70 , and HSP 90 in normal tissues ( N=30 ) , in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1 ( CIN 1 ) ( synonymous with productive HPV infections ) ( N=32 ) , and in CIN 3 ( cervical precancer ) ( N=25 ) by immunohistochemistry staining ( graded 0 3 ) and compared the results to p16INK4a , a biomarker of oncogenic HPV infections and CIN 3 . ^^^ |
