| In response to insulin , NEU 3 was found to undergo tyrosine phosphorylation and subsequent association with the Grb 2 protein , thus being activated and causing negative regulation of insulin signaling . ^^^ The data indicate that NEU 3 indeed participates in the control of insulin signaling , probably via modulation of gangliosides and interaction with Grb 2 , and that the mice can serve as a valuable model for human insulin resistant diabetes . . ^^^ |

| NEU 3 markedly enhanced tyrosine phosphorylation of integrin beta 4 with recruitment of Shc and Grb 2 only on laminin 5 , and NEU 3 was co immunoprecipitated by an anti ( integrin beta 4 ) antibody , suggesting that association of NEU 3 with integrin beta 4 might facilitate promotion of the integrin derived signalling on laminin 5 . ^^^ |
