The blood vessel defects in ALK 1 deficient mice are reminiscent of mice lacking TGF beta 1 , TGF beta type 2 receptor ( TbetaR 2 ) , or endoglin , suggesting that ALK 1 may mediate TGF beta 1 signal in endothelial cells . ^^^ Consistent with this hypothesis , we demonstrate that ALK 1 in endothelial cells binds to TGF beta 1 and TbetaR 2 . ^^^
