In the present investigation , we examined the possibility for a potential cross talk between the blastocyst and uterus involving the ezrin / radixin / moesin ( ERM ) proteins and ERM associated cytoskeletal cross linker proteins CD 43 , CD 44 , ICAM 1 , and ICAM 2 . ^^^

Immunofluorescence analysis showed that the ERM proteins radixin and moesin localized to the uropod of human T lymphoblasts treated with the chemokine RANTES ( regulated on activation , normal T cell expressed , and secreted ) , a polarization inducing agent ; radixin colocalized with arrays of myosin 2 at the neck of the uropods , whereas moesin decorated the most distal part of the uropod and colocalized with ICAM 1 , ICAM 3 , and CD 44 molecules . ^^^ In addition , moesin is associated with CD 44 , but not with ICAM 1 , in polarized T lymphocytes . ^^^

Dynamic interaction of VCAM 1 and ICAM 1 with moesin and ezrin in a novel endothelial docking structure for adherent leukocytes . ^^^ Dynamic assessment of this interaction in living cells showed that both VCAM 1 and moesin were involved in lymphoblast adhesion and spreading on the endothelium , whereas only moesin participated in TEM , following the same distribution pattern as ICAM 1 . ^^^ During leukocyte adhesion in static or under flow conditions , VCAM 1 , ICAM 1 , and activated moesin and ezrin clustered in an endothelial actin rich docking structure that anchored and partially embraced the leukocyte containing other cytoskeletal components such as alpha actinin , vinculin , and VASP . ^^^

Ezrin and moesin co localise with ICAM 1 in brain endothelial cells but are not directly associated . ^^^ The ERM proteins ezrin and moesin were found to strongly co localise with both ICAM 1 and F actin in brain microvascular endothelial cells suggesting a potential role in mediating ICAM 1 signalling . ^^^ Cross linking of ICAM 1 demonstrated ICAM 1 clustering which no longer associated with ezrin or moesin . ^^^ Together these data suggest that ICAM 1 is not directly associated with ezrin and moesin in brain microvascular endothelial cells . . ^^^
