| Three gas mixtures were given in sequence to each patient : oxygen and compressed air ( AIRc ) , oxygen and nitrous oxide , and oxygen and synthetic air ( AIRs ) that was free from nitric oxide . ^^^ All patients were given AIRs as the second gas and the other two gas mixtures ( AIRc and nitrous oxide ) were given randomly as the first and third gases . ^^^ RESULTS : During ventilation with oxygen AIRc , the median nitric oxide concentration was 5 . 6 ppb , during ventilation with oxygen nitrous oxide it was 5 . 0 ppb and using oxygen AIRs it was 1 . 5 ppb . ^^^ When AIRc and nitrous oxide were used , Pa ( o ( 2 ) ) was greater and venous admixture was less than when AIRs was used . ^^^ |

| Mapping of bovine PRGS and PAIS genes in hybrid somatic cells : syntenic conservation with human chromosome 21 . ^^^ Somatic cell genetics coupled with enzyme electrophoresis has facilitated the mapping of PRGS and PAIS genes in cattle . ^^^ Individual cow hamster hybrid cell lines established by fusion of mutant CHO cells , ade C and ade G , with cattle leukocytes required complementing bovine genes for PRGS and PAIS , respectively , when propogated on selective media . ^^^ Secondary cattle hamster hybrid subclones which segregated bovine PRGS and PAIS in late passages on nonselective media concordantly segregated bovine SOD 1 . ^^^ These data support a syntenic relationship among PRGS , PAIS , and SOD 1 on cattle syntenic group U 10 . ^^^ |
