| Rabenosyn 5 , a novel Rab 5 effector , is complexed with hVPS 45 and recruited to endosomes through a FYVE finger domain . ^^^ This complex includes a novel protein , Rabenosyn 5 , which , like the previously characterized Rab 5 effector early endosome antigen 1 ( EEA 1 ) , contains an FYVE finger domain and is recruited in a phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase dependent fashion to early endosomes . ^^^ Rabenosyn 5 is complexed to the Sec 1 like protein hVPS 45 . hVPS 45 does not interact directly with Rab 5 , therefore Rabenosyn 5 serves as a molecular link between hVPS 45 and the Rab 5 GTPase . ^^^ |

| Here , we report that Rabenosyn 5 , a previously identified Rab 5 effector , also binds to Rab 4 . ^^^ Rabenosyn 5 overexpression increased the association between Rab 5 and Rab 4 endosomal domains and decreased the fraction of Rab 4 and Rab 11 positive structures . ^^^ |

| We found that p38alpha can phosphorylate the Rab 5 effectors EEA 1 and Rabenosyn 5 on Thr 1392 and Ser 215 , respectively , and these phosphorylation events regulate the recruitment of EEA 1 and Rabenosyn 5 to membranes . ^^^ |
