| The addition of 8 bromo cyclic AMP , forskolin , theophylline , and 3 isobutyl 1 methylxanthine to the medium of PC 12 cells resulted in an increase in GTP cyclohydrolase 1 activity , but had no effect on dihydropteridine reductase activity , except theophylline which caused a decrease in dihydropteridine reductase activity at 96 h . ^^^ It appears that GTP cyclohydrolase 1 activity in PC 12 cells is regulated by cyclic AMP stimulation and by end product inhibition , whereas dihydropteridine reductase activity is only subject to pterin inhibition . . ^^^ |

| Differential effect of dexamethasone on interleukin 1beta and cyclic AMP triggered expression of GTP cyclohydrolase 1 in rat renal mesangial cells . 1 . ^^^ We examined the action of the potent anti inflammatory drug dexamethasone on GTP cyclohydrolase 1 induction in response to IL 1beta and a membrane permeable cyclic AMP analogue , N 6 , O 2 ' dibutyryladenosine 3 ' 5 ' phosphate ( Bt2cyclic AMP ) . 3 . ^^^ In contrast , dexamethasone did not inhibit Bt2cyclic AMP triggered increase in GTP cyclohydrolase 1 mRNA level and protein expression , and low ( 1 nM ) or high ( 1 and 10 microM ) doses of dexamethasone consistently increased Bt2cyclic AMP induced GTP cyclohydrolase activity . 4 . ^^^ |
